This is perhaps the most classic example of the "wise old man" in regards to films. The Star Wars series is known amongst pretty much everybody, and everybody knows who Yoda is. Yoda is the one that is turned to in just about any time of crisis in the movies. It is clear in this scene he is trying to teach Luke the ways and give him some of the wisdom he has acquired in his lifetime. When Luke doubts him, he just shows him by his actions that he knows what he is talking about. This is a classic example of the "wise old man" showing the young grasshopper his ways.

Blog Post 3: Ads That Make You Guilty

Mayhem, the popular character from the series of new Allstate commercials, has become pretty popular. Insurance is an easy thing to sell, because insurance is very important, and everybody needs it. Mayhem tries to convince the consumer that if you don't have Allstate, you won't be protected well. I think this is one of the more effective insurance commercials. Most insurance commercials focus on how good of a deal you get, but this one makes a hypothetical situation that shows the scares of having a cheap insurance policy, and while it was completely fiction, has a pretty good underlying message.

This video shows an example of hauling. The first thing I noticed is there was a promotion code under the description of the video immediately showing a form of advertising. Throughout the video she just explains the products and why she loves them so much. She got 11,000 views on the video so that's 11,000 potential sales the companies are getting just for her uploading this video. The power of peer review is not one that should be underestimated. Another cool thing is that she is linked to a site called haulerdeals.com where people can buy the products she hauled in her videos. This is an idea that can make companies fortunes if utilized right, and possibly be the next big thing in terms of advertising.

How kids "play"
I could not have had a more perfect opportunity. These are three of my little cousins, all playing games on their iPhones. This picture was taken at one of my family parties. When I was a kid, I remember all of us would get together at the family parties and run around, play in the backyard, or play with toys. This is an obvious and clear sign that the times are changing. I did not even own a cell phone at this age, now it's almost expected for every kid to have a smart phone. Technology is changing the world, including peoples interactions. Seeing things like this makes me wonder how behind socially their generation is compared to ours. Instead of developing important characteristics like learning how to work with a team, they're absorbed in something with not quite the same benefits. You could argue that the games they play teach strategizing, but in my opinion, everybody needs to know how to interact with one another.
