How kids "play"
I could not have had a more perfect opportunity. These are three of my little cousins, all playing games on their iPhones. This picture was taken at one of my family parties. When I was a kid, I remember all of us would get together at the family parties and run around, play in the backyard, or play with toys. This is an obvious and clear sign that the times are changing. I did not even own a cell phone at this age, now it's almost expected for every kid to have a smart phone. Technology is changing the world, including peoples interactions. Seeing things like this makes me wonder how behind socially their generation is compared to ours. Instead of developing important characteristics like learning how to work with a team, they're absorbed in something with not quite the same benefits. You could argue that the games they play teach strategizing, but in my opinion, everybody needs to know how to interact with one another.

I agree--a very telling picture. As a mother, I've had the same thoughts, so early on as parents we decided that our kids would be outside every day, almost, and then we introduced a "once in a while" game on the computer, so now (hopefully this will stay the same), they see playing a game on the computer as just one of the activities of a day and not the ONLY thing to do.
